High pressure menbrane filter press in copper tailings dewatering applications

Copper tailings, also known as copper tailings sand. In China, copper tailings are the second largest source of tailings after iron tailings. In the process of copper ore flotation, due to the wide application of mineral processing agents, the waste ore slurry contains many toxic substances and heavy metals, which not only seriously threatens our ecological environment, but also seriously challenges the living environment of surrounding residents. At present, tailings dams are still the most common treatment method, but there are great safety risks. In order to solve the above drawbacks and achieve dry drainage, Filter Presses have been widely used in this field.

The working effect of the high pressure menbrane Filter Press is outstanding, and it has excellent performance, full automation, improved maintenance effect, reduced operating costs, and the moisture of the Filter cake is lower than that of the traditional Plate And Frame Filter Press and belt Filter press. According to our experience, because copper tailings have the characteristics of relatively high solid content, relatively fine ore particles and large viscosity. If a conventional Plate and Frame Filter Press is used for press filtration and dewatering, the cycle time is longer and the efficiency is lower. In order to solve this problem, the following process can be used: cyclone - dewatering screen - thickener - high pressure menbrane filter press. The process is not only suitable for tailings with fine particles, but also has the characteristics of small one-time input, small footprint, high efficiency, good dehydration effect and low operating costs. First, the slurry is particle-graded through a cyclone. Coarse particles are discharged directly into the dehydration sieve, while fine slurries flow into the thickener. In this way, the underflow concentration can reach 80%. Through the pretreatment of the cyclone, the working pressure of the thickener can be effectively reduced. At the same time as entering the thickening machine, the slurry is fully mixed and precipitated with the coagulant. In this way, the underflow concentration can reach more than 25%, and then enter the high pressure menbrane filter press for dehydration. Under the pressure of the slurry pump, the preliminary filter cake is formed inside the filter chamber, and then the secondary pressing of high-pressure water can finally reach the filter cake with a moisture content of about 18%, and finally the tailings dry discharge can be realized. The supernatant of the thickener and the effluent of the filter press are directly recycled. The process is not only used for the dewatering of copper tailings, but also for many areas such as mechanical sand wastewater.

In addition to tailings filtration, mechanical sand wastewater and many other fields, high pressure menbrane filter press are also suitable for fine and ultra-fine coal dewatering. Their high extrusion force and air compression filter cake force can achieve very low filter cake moisture. The flexibility of batch operation and press cycles allows the filter cake moisture to be controlled by adjusting the press time and pressure of the air.
